The student had a few structural errors and some gramatical mistakes, otherwise, it is obvious that the student understands the learning process in an online classroom as well as the importance of building a community of learners.
When learning leaves the classroom the learning process is very different from the traditional classroom setting. The learning process in the virtual classroom is one in which the instructor acts as a facilitator, the learning is student-centered, and the instructor and students have a power shift so that constructive teaching emerges. (pg 29 PP) Rather than the teacher giving notes and assessing the students on what they have learned, teachers give case studies and readings and have students discuss them with each other virtually and they learn while doing so. Therefore the instructor only facilitates what they do and not hand it to them as in the face-to-face classroom. The community is made up of the instructor and students, purpose, policies, computer system, collaborative learning, and the reflective process. (pg 27 PP) This community is used in the learning process in the way that there are policies set in place by the instructor. The students and teacher have a purpose for being a part of the class. The instructor gives assignments through the computer system that is used for collaborative learning as well as reflections on discussions and readings. The instructor builds a community by collaborating with students and having students work in virtual groups to discuss problems and perhaps solve cases. The instructor may also have students explore ideas, experiment, and test ideas to build a community and or increase learning in the learning process. Interaction and feedback that is given is used to determine the application of ideas. (pg 28 PP) When students interact with the teacher and or other students they sometime learn more from mere conversation than by reading a book or an article. All of these things together make the online classroom different and interesting but they also make the students that are a part of the community successful at learning the objectives set out for them.

Comments: Great Job! It is apparent that you understand the objectives of the lesson. The learning process in an online classroom is different than in a traditional classroom. Also the importance of building a community of learners is an important concept. With that being said, please go to my blog to see the responses of other students and their ideas. | ||||
